What are the Dodgers doing wrong?

SERIOUSLY, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE DODGERS?

The Dodgers have dropped 2 of the last 3 games to the San Francisco Giants with their only win coming from Clayton Kershaw’s gem yesterday in a 2-1 win.  Many would have expected Kershaw to get the W but who would have guessed the Dodgers would lose 2 out of 3 to the struggling, last place Giants?  Haven’t experts been predicting the Dodgers to win it all this year?

Tonight, the Dodgers had an early lead going into the bottom of the 7th, up 3-0, that got started by Seager’s 462 foot BOMB to center-field.

Utley FINALLY produced a hit to score the 2nd run with the 3rd run coming off of an infielder’s choice on a ground ball by Andrew Toles.  That was all in the 6th inning.  Romo then allowed a 2-run HR to baby-faced rookie Christian Arroyo in the 7th followed by a solo shot from Michael Morse off Baez in the 8th.  To add insult to injury, Morse hasn’t played in a major league game since 2015.  That’s TWO YEARS folks.  And his first major league at-bat resulted in a HR?  One word sums it up for the Dodgers: pathetic.

This was the Dodgers game to win.  Despite the pitfalls of the bullpen tonight there were many questions most fans probably had that left them scratching their heads…

First of all, why is Adrian Gonzalez still starting when he’s battling an elbow injury?  Why wasn’t Chris Taylor starting?  Why was Old Man Utley in the starting lineup with a batting average of .033 (THAT’S 1 HIT IN 30 AT BATS)?  (In his defense he did score an RBI…).  Why did Cody Bellinger bat lead-off in his second career MLB game?  Why did Alex Wood get pulled after pitching 6 marvelous innings of ONE HIT baseball and throwing only 77 pitches?  When the game went into extras why wasn’t Kenley Jansen even warming up in the bullpen?

I have been a Dave Roberts fan since he came on board last year – mostly because I was never thrilled on Mattingly.  Roberts definitely has an unorthodox style of play, which I like (for the most part) and our guys all need to see action.  They all need to play in the game otherwise how else will they get experience and not get rusty?  HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean the lineup needs to change dramatically on a day to day basis.  The Dodgers need consistency.  More importantly, the Dodgers need wins.

I know it’s still early in the season and there are a lot more games to be played but, so far, the Dodgers have only won one series and that was the first series against the Padres.  Dave Roberts needs to get his act together and figure out this team – and quick – because right now we sure as hell don’t look like a World Series winning team.

The Good News and the Bad News are the same at this point… They are losing close games. A timely hit here or there and they’d be 5 or 6 games over .500. Teams with talent most often lose because they’re pressing, because they’re hurt, because they’re old… and getting old is like falling off a cliff, because they’re being miss-managed, or because they’re just not as good as we/they thought they were. Most likely if any of us knew exactly why, we’d be a big league manager… LOL
